Fascination Mountain Bike

When you reach the Reschen Pass from the North and cross the Italian border, it’s as if you’ve passed through the gateway to the South. The beautiful Vinschgau Valley opens in the foreground with the turquoise-blue Reschensee (lake) and the glacial range of the Ortler Mountains in the background. There’s no doubt about it: This is where the South begins.

The geographical term “Vinschgau” encompasses the catchment area of Etsch (Adige) from the Reschen Pass to where the valley narrows in the vicinity of the Töll, an area of 80 km in length. The furrow of the valley is divided by two large mountain ranges: the Ötztaler Alps to the north, the Sonnenberg and the Ortlermassiv to the south, or the Nördersberg.

Vinschgau is a region of varying altitudes ranging from barely 400 m to almost 4000 m above sea level..

Vinschgau’s emblems are not only the remarkable mountains and summits such as Mount Ortler or the Königspitze, but also the Reschen Pass with the church tower in the lake and the apple orchards in Lower Vinschgau.

The well-known Dreiländereck, where the three countries Austria, Switzerland and Italy meet, is loved above all by mountain bikers and racing bikers alike with its many passes and trails, it offers a variety of possibilities. In short:

Vinschgau is a paradise for mountain bikers. It offers level Waal paths (Waal = irrigation canal), alpine pastures as well as demanding mountain paths and summits.
